Weekday/Weekend

I once had someone tell me that if you eat good and exercise well 5 days of the week - let's say M-F, then you can eat whatever you want on the weekend. What do you think?

I'm totally for it because Saturday was girl's night and I had a cheeseburger, fries, 2 cokes, and almost an entire piece of mud pie that I shoved down my gullet. Seriously so amazing that I didn't puke. PLUS I didn't do any exercise at all.

So.

I guess I'm back on track starting tomorrow. Also, I'm looking into a membership at the YMCA - apparently they have a scholarship program for lower-income families (or non-existent income in our case). You know, the whole broad-cross-section-of-humanity thing. That would totally ROCK!

I don't know, the thing is this: you worked really hard to go down down down M-F so then why set yourself back on Saturday and Sunday? (why can't we say S-S?)
I don't think you can ruin the entire thing in 1 girls night out but if you allowed yourself to break it every single weekend you'd never get anywhere. It's easier and funner (NOT A WORD!) to put on weight than lose it.

Plus, I heard that theory is totally there for small setbacks. Like what you had. They are banking on the person being so into their habits and loving the M-F lifestyle that they won't feel like eating crap.

As for the YMCA, let me know how that goes. We had picked up the packet for the scholarship once but I never turned it back in. It would be awesome if you got it! Plus, you can put the boys in swimming and all the other cool stuff.

Yeah, I'm so lazy I don't actually go to the Student Rec Center (READ: there is nothing recreational there. No, they have a big screen TV with SPORTS on all the time and a bazillion weight machines, etc... no relaxing) and they MAKE me pay for it every semester. I should go. It's like a block from here. I could walk there, work out, walk home. I have a friend who does this and she lives PAST us. I could go with her. But I don't want to work out in front of people.

The kicker is two fold: I pay for it anyway ANNNNDDD I like working out once I'm doing it. I just forget and get into the excuse mode. (*kind of like sex for a lot of women. hmmm...)

Plus, I hate sweating. No, I hate the beginning of sweating when it beads up on your forehead and you get all hot and gross gross gross. Once it's pouring down me, I don't mind nearly as much.

Maybe I should have made a post. That is a long freakin' comment!

I think you win the prize for length...

My thought was that if I had something to look forward to it would motivate me to actually eat fairly well during the week - since that's not happening anyway.

But I see your point.

Oh, and you totally nailed how I feel about working out - it is that beginning sweat that I hate - full on sweat is great!

See, if I just leave a bunch of little comments then I never end up with a gargantuan comment that could have been a post.

I'm just teasing you, I love that you write comments at all! ;)

Or maybe you should just take 1 day. Or one meal... "on Sundays after church I get to eat whatever I want" or something.

My friend Sabre does Weight Watchers and she eats almost nothing the 6 hours before weighing in but then she allows herself whatever she wants (sometimes REALLY crazy!) from then to bed. it's like 4 hours of freedom from the diet.

It's a good idea, maybe just some more parameters?

hey Val, I don't know if you like to go to the pool or if you have a close by city pool. If you do, check to see if your city offers a fee waiver. We payed $2 for the application, 5 minutes to send it in and we've gone to the pool FOR FREE almost everyday for the last month! We love it and it could count for some sort of exercise....will be harder for you and the kids by yourself though with younger ones....just an idea...

the benefits of having zero income are amazing :)
